Homo Ludens- is a band which performs the vivid interplay of contemporary chamber music with the electronica universe.
Ralph Heidel is the head of Homo Ludens- a young german composer, arranger and saxophonist who also plays piano, synths and electronics. Accompanied by a string quartet, electric bass and drums his band is complete. The compositions of Ralph Heidel create the whole deck of emotional scenarios by starting with small and carefully selected themes which emerge into great and moving musical motifs.
Music inspired by artists like Charles Ives, Alfred Schnittke, French impressionists, Scandinavian Jazz and Jonny Greenwood’s of Radiohead. A broad spectrum of influences converted into a minimalistic approach but still delivering impressionistic complexity.
